Will Shuster's Zozobra 2007
On September 10, Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe will burn Old Man Gloom, in a fiery attempt to burn away all Santa Fe gloom and begin anew. Will Shuster’s Zozobra is also the official fundraiser for the Kiwanis Foundation, benefiting kids in Santa Fe.

You will witness: gloomies, fire dancers, fireworks, live bands, procession of the Fiesta King and Queen, food vendors, Zozobra souvenirs, twenty thousand visitors yelling, “Burn Him, Burn Him! ”

Officially, this is Will Shuster’s Zozobra, invented back in 1925. The marionette has grown over the years, now standing at 50 feet and in the Guinness Book of World Records as the World’s tallest marionette. Will Shuster’s Zozobra is also noted in: Best of Santa Fe, Best Community Event and New Mexico Tourism Hall of Fame.

After Will Shuster’s Zozobra, activites begin for Fiestas de Santa Fe. Fiestas annually celebrates Santa Fe’s reconquest by the Spanish in 1680. This year is Santa Fe’s 400th celebration, El Quatro Centenario, 1610-2010.

Fiestas de Santa Fe will last for September 6-13, but ongoing activities will be continued for the Quatro Centenario.
