River Run on the Rio Grande

The Great Outdoors is one of the great things about living in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico. Within an hour of Santa Fe, you enjoy many outdoor adventures – canoeing, rafting, hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, motorcycling, mountain biking.

My buddy John Taperek and I love these outdoor activities, we often drop work for a day or so and hit the road. The latest adventure finds us on the Rio Grande, canoeing the river during spring runoff.

Our adventures are not for the meek and weak. We pride ourselves every time we have to portage the canoe around the diversion dams. Three to be exact in our case. I can promise you dragging a canoe full of gear on a hot day is superior exercise.
