Santa Fe Water
Effective January 1, 2010 – The City of Santa Fe’s Wastewater Management Division increases include: new sewer service, new sewer surcharge rates, and establishing new effluent water rates. All residential and commercial customers will pay 8.2% per month more for water.
This increase is needed for two reasons:
1. A sustainable, reliable water supply. Pay for city’s share of construction of the Buckman Direct Diversion Project, BDD. The BDD will divert water through the Rio Grande, treat it and deliver it to homes and businesses. The City already owns and has paid for water rights to the San Juan-Chama water.
2. Maintaining and Operating the City Water System. This includes: water treatment, storage tanks and pipelines. Reliable equipment reduces water line breaks, improves repair time, and increases safety.
What can you do to save money on your water bill? Use less water. The City of Santa Fe has one of the best reward programs in the Southwest. For water conservation tips, visit Sangre de Christo Water Division.
Take advantage of the new rebate program for replacing existing inefficient appliances and fixtures with: high efficient clothes washers, toilets, water free urinals and commercial process equipment. Outdoor rebates include: rain barrels, water harvesting systems, irrigation upgrades with weather based controllers. The amount of rebate will be credited on your utility bill.
