Christmas Holidays Santa Fe Style
The kids down the street are busy installing electric Farolitos on the roof. This holiday tradition in Santa Fe, New Mexico dates back some 400 years. The real farolitos are votive candles burning inside a paper bag. The bag glows a golden color and looks awesome when you have hundreds of farolitos burning at night.
Here in Santa Fe we say "Feliz Navidad – Merry Christmas amigo". Santa Feans zip around home and office parties, and many community Christmas activities, including:
The Nutcracker, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet – Dec 12, 13
Las Posadas – The journey of Mary and Joseph in search of shelter. The devil himself shows up on the journey. Santa Fe plaza, December 13.
Santa Fe Pro Musica at Lorretto Chapel - December events
Santa Fe Desert Chorale Winter Festival – December events
Christmas at the Palace of the Governors – Dec 11
